Some suggestions for upcoming events that are on our radar:
- Legendary British avant-garde trio The Tiger Lillies (above) are playing at Joe’s Pub Tuesday, Oct. 31st – Friday, Nov. 3, as part of a return tour featuring songs from their highly acclaimed back catalogue, coinciding with their first “best of” album, The Worst of The Tiger Lillies.
- And Scene, a half-scripted comedy show that pairs actors with New York’s top improvisers to perform scenes together returns to Caveat on Monday, Oct. 30th at 7pm. The actors can only say the words as they come in the script and the improvisers make up their half as they go. We hear “it’s a night of chaotic fun and classic plays.”
- Nuyorican Poets Cafe hosts its 50th Anniversary Costume Ball on Tuesday, Oct. 31st, before closing their doors for a 3-year “Nuyoricanstruction” renovation.
From 4pm to- 7pm, kids can enjoy sweets, games and a free haunted house, from 10PM to 3am, there will be music, games, an open bar and a lottery style open mic for all artists. - Dancer/performer Mexican American Marie Baker-Lee will perform her final performances with Mark DeGarmo Dance after a 38-year career with the company Nov. 1st-5th in Las Fridas: An Offering for the Days of the Dead at Mark DeGarmo Dance Studio Theater 310 at The Clemente.
- Performance Space New York presents Wail•Fall•Whale•Fall, by mayfield brooks, accompanied by electronic cellist, Dorothy Carlos and performer Camilo Restrepo, an installation and activation that acknowledges the labor it takes to grieve, inviting “a “different ecology of cellular integration to emerge through the act of grieving.”
