Here are a few neighborhood events that are on our radar:
- Rooftop Films brings a free sneak preview screening of No Hard Feelings, a new comedy from director Gene Stupnitsky, starring and produced by Jennifer Lawrence, to the rooftop at New Design High School on Wednesday, June 21st at 7:30pm.
- Justin Vivian Bond continues celebrating Pride with a residency at Joe’s pub Wednesday, June 21 – Sunday, June 25 at 7:00pm. Mx Viv writes, “This Pride I’m singing songs about staying strong and being FIERCE! Expect songs by PJ Harvey, Sinead “Pope Ripper” O’Connor, along with some originals and some heartfelt TRANTHEMS.”
- The Chinatown Night Market returns to Forsyth Plaza this Friday, June 23 from 8-11pm. Presented by Think!Chinatown, the summer series features food, art & music at the iconic gateway of the Manhattan Bridge.
- Loisaida, Inc. Arts & Cultural Center is celebrating Pride Month with three different events curated in collaboration with artist Gabriel Torres, including Drag U: The Beauty on Friday, June 23 from 3-6 pm. In this fun family-friendly workshop, artist Ernesto Linnemann invites the community to learn how to do drag makeup, and discover their inner queen.
- P&T Knitwear hosts Polina Pomplinao to celebrate her new book, Hidden Genius, with a talk, audience Q&A, and book signing on Saturday, June 24th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. After five years of writing The Profile, Pompliano has studied thousands of the most successful and interesting people in the world and examined how they reason their way through problems, unleash their creativity, and perform under extreme pressure.
