You have a new dining option on East Broadway near Seward Park. In the past week, Tipsy Shanghai opened its doors at 189 East Broadway. That space was home to Cafe Petisco for 15 years up until about a year ago.
The new spot featuring Shanghai-style cuisine is a branch of a restaurant by the same name operating in the West Village since 2018 (signage claims it’s a “century-old restaurant from China”). The owner, Sean Hui, went before Community Board 3, a few months ago to request a wine permit. Hours of operation are expected to be 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM seven days a week.
There’s not much of a web presence for the East Broadway location just yet, but you can glimpse the online menu for the West Village outpost. It’s what you’d expect — soup dumplings, sweet and sour ribs, stir fried bean curd with crab meat, drunken chicken, etc.
