The Lower East Side landscape is, of course, changing in dramatic fashion. Several large development projects are reshaping the neighborhood’s low rise character in a way that hasn’t been seen since the 1950s and 1960s. Your photo submissions of late have reflected our new environment.

In the image above from Joe Black, you see the Essex Crossing building at 145 Clinton St. Shot from the Grand Street Guild high rise at 410 Grand St., you’re looking at the east side of the new 15-story building.

From Joel Raskin, here’s a view of Extell’s monstrous tower on South Street, visible between two Grand Street buildings. They’re 21 floors each. Extell’s One Manhattan Square is on its way to 80 stories.  And finally, below, here’s a shot of the Extell tower from Wall Street, courtesy of Alan LeNoble.
