Brooklyn Fare Grocery Opens at “One Manhattan Square”

Must Read

A lot of longtime residents likely thought they’d never see the day. But it’s happened. About a decade after the Pathmark grocery in the Two Bridges area closed, a new grocery store has opened.

Brooklyn Fare will host its official grand opening at 227 Cherry St. tomorrow (Monday). The 25,000 square foot outlet is the largest of Brooklyn Fare’s five NYC locations.

Roger Boltot sent along these photos with the accompanying note, “Nice layout, large selection of all items, especially produce, meat and seafood, dairy, and beer and wine. Prices are affordable (especially sales) to pricey. Wonderful addition to the neighborhood.”

The Pathmark was razed in 2014 to make way for the 80-story “One Manhattan Square” condo complex. In a community meeting back in June of 2014, Gary Barnett, head of Extell Development, intimated that the Pathmark store would hopefully be replaced by another affordable grocery.

We’ll likely be hearing many opinions in the neighborhood about the arrival of Brooklyn Fare. For Extell, Brooklyn Fare is another tool brokers can be used in the arduous task of selling One Manhattan Square’s apartments. Back in February, a social media post from the developer boasted, “the gourmet grocery store and supermarket is set to become an official part of our 100,000+ SF of luxury amenities…”
