Photo by Robin Herbst-Paparne. After taking up residency in Central Park, Flaco the owl has recently been spotted in the East Village, in some community gardens, and now even lower down here in the LES.
Here’s a post from local resident and author Laurie Gwen Shapiro, who shared Robin’s photo on Facebook:
“If you’ve seen the news, Flaco the Owl (The Central Park escapee and NYC star) has just this week moved downtown – and he was just spotted on my block! AMAZING photo from a Grand Street block neighbor, Robin Herbst-Paparne. Maybe he will come to my window. I live up high and get the hawks.
When you’re alone, and life is making you lonely
You can always go
Downtown
When you’ve got worries, all the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know
Downtown
Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose?”
