The Lower East Side and nearby neighborhoods have become New York Fashion Week destinations for runway shows and fashion installations. But in the weeks and months afterwards there’s still plenty to do, see, and explore. Here’s a roundup of hot designer shops, vintage stores and trending galleries, from reporter Kari Jensen.
75 EAST BROADWAY MALL (75 East Broadway) — It’s easy to walk past the entrance to 75 East Broadway Chinese Mall (photo above) and never know that designer and vintage stores are inside. Downstairs, there are a few Chinese wholesalers, some with designer garment knockoffs. Upstairs you’ll find exciting designer boutiques such as Eckhaus Latta and vintage retailers, including fashion darling James Veloria.

ASSEMBLY NEW YORK (170 Ludlow St.) — For new and vintage unisex designer clothing, shoes, and accessories. You’ll also find some fashion journals, such as Document, and sometimes a pop-up shop in the storefront next door.

BOWERY SHOWROOM (57 Stanton St.) — A combination concept store, showroom, pop-up shop, event space, and more.

ESSX NYC (140 Essex Street) — a new concept store featuring designer brands, such as Winnie, with an adjoining space that’s sometimes used for pop-up shops. The space recently debuted a show featuring local photographer and hat designer, Clayton Patterson.
HANNAH TRAORE GALLERY (150 Orchard St.) — The young owner-curator features works by artists who have been historically marginalized at this up and coming gallery space, which opened to much fanfare in 2022.

PROCELL (5 Delancey Street ) — A second-hand clothing shop specializing in 1990s fashions, including designer labels such as Prada and Chanel, and vintage concert tour tees.

STRADA GALLERY (329 Broome St.) — The line for the grand opening wrapped around the block earlier in September welcoming this new gallery, which showcases diverse emerging talent.
