In the news this past week:
–Cops pursued two suspects reportedly wanted in an illegal gun investigation, chasing them from Avenue D to the West Village. During the pursuit, one of the suspects struck a woman riding a bike at Sullivan and East Houston streets. She was transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition but is expected to recover. –The mayor was apparently on the verge of reopening Park Row for automobile traffic, after years of advocacy from Chinatown community groups. But it hasn’t happened yet, according to the mayor, because some elected officials asked him to delay the move until wider community engagement can take place. [Streetsblog]
–Untitled, a boutique hotel on the Bowery (with a Freeman Alley address), soft opened a few months ago and is ready for an official fall debut. It will try to succeed where the Ace Hotel’s Sister City failed. [WWD]

–For Natalie Kates and Fabrizio Ferri, “life and art (on the Lower East Side) have been inextricably intertwined,” and now their art gallery on Grand Street is expanding. [Artsy]
–The popular Chinatown bakery, Golden Steamer, has opened a second spot on Grand Street. [Eater]
