Our friends at Artists Alliance Inc. are currently taking applications for two funded residencies — one for arts curators, offered in partnership with Abrons Arts Center, and one for their LES Studio program.
The LES Studio Program provides free six-month residencies to under-represented, emerging, and mid-career artists. They write:
“Artists working across all disciplines are encouraged to apply for fully funded shared studio space in the historic Clemente Soto VĂ©lez Cultural and Educational Center in the heart of the Lower East Side.
The residency offers 24-hour access to a furnished studio, the opportunity to present work to curators and critics through AAI-organized studio visits, an exhibition at Cuchifritos Gallery + Project Space (located inside the Essex Market), and monthly stipends (awarded to New York State residents only). Residencies are meant to facilitate experimentation, research, or production by providing much-needed space and time for residents.”
Applications Due Monday, Apr 17 2023.

The Curatorial AIRspace Residency, in partnership with Abrons Arts Center, provides one NYC-based curator or curatorial collaborative with an honorarium, production budget, materials budget, and office space to support the curation of two exhibitions.
Abrons’ curatorial focus for our Spring 2024 season is “sanctuary.” The 2023–2024 Curatorial AIRspace Resident will curate one proposal-based exhibition and the Visual Artist AIRspace Exhibition based on this theme.
Applications Due Sunday, Apr 23 2023.
