December Arts & Events Roundup

Must Read

Abrons Arts Center has announced its Spring 2023 lineup with a focus on organizations and artists from the neighborhood. Events include their continuing partnership with W.O.W. Project’s “From Chinatown With Love,” a series that celebrates Lunar New Year with activities that support small businesses in Manhattan’s Chinatown.

Justin Vivian Bond returns to The Public with a holiday special (with music!), “Oh Mary, It’s Christmas!” The show runs nightly until Dec. 23.

Snowballs to the Wall,” a holiday comedy show produced by the Rubbish Comedy Collective, comes to Dixon Place on Tuesday, Dec. 20th.

There’s plenty happening at Caveat this week, including “The George Lucas Talk Show Holiday Special” on Dec. 19. It’s an improvised talk show hosted by comedian Connor Ratliff (Dead Eyes, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), who appears as George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, as he interviews real guests as themselves in a panel format.

And the Museum at Eldridge Street partners with Essex Market for “Hanukkah in the Lower East Side,” a discussion on the mezzanine at the market on Wednesday, Dec. 21st at 6pm. There will be doughnuts and lighting of the menorah for the fourth night of Hanukkah, plus a discussion on the history of the Lower East Side, its Jewish community at the turn of the 20th Century, and “how their new home would profoundly shape their practices and traditions including Hanukkah.”
