The New York City mayoral election has been stealing all the headlines, but let’s not forget that downtown residents will also be choosing a new City Council representative in District 1 next month. While the general election takes place in the fall, the Democratic Primary is happening on June 22, with early voting beginning June 12. Given the overwhelming advantage the Democratic Party enjoys in the Lower Manhattan District, this is the decisive event.
