A big mess of Hester Street between Mott and Mulberry today. Crews are digging into the street, trying to repair a broken water main as well as a collapsed sewer. A private construction company was working on Hester when the mishap happened, about 1 a.m. It seems likely the street will be closed for much of the weekend, if not longer.
