Community activist John Penley is getting involved in the effort to save the Bialystoker Nursing Home. Overnight, he left a link to a new Facebook events page on one of our recent stories concerning the closure of the home, located at 228 East Broadway. Penley is planning a protest Thursday afternoon at 3:30, at the Midtown offices of real estate developer Ira Mesiter, the chair of the Bialystoker board. A rally was planned yesterday, in front of the nursing home (it was scheduled at the exact moment that the earthquake rumbled up and down the East Coast).
