Victor Papa Steps Down From One Non-Profit, Stays on at Another

Must Read

Victor Papa, president of the Two Bridges Neighborhood Council, announced that he’s giving up another title, executive director of Immigrant Social Services (ISS).  The Chinatown non-profit, located at 137 Henry St., will now be led by Charles Lai. Mr. Lai has a long history in Chinatown in executive roles at institutions such as the Museum of Chinese in America, the Asian American Federation and the Chinatown Manpower Project.

In a statement, Papa said:

I needed to make that emotional decision in order to give more attention to TBNC, which, over the recent years, has grown in scope with considerable community development and affordable housing work. The decision was difficult given my strong attachment to ISS for 14 years. But it was made all the more easy because of the wise decision by the appointment of Mr. Charles Lai as my successor.

Two Bridges Neighborhood Council is a non-profit housing developer, social service provider and advocacy organization.
