Lo-Down reader David Goldberg sends along a couple of photos showing a low flying NYPD helicopter hovering over the Lower East Side this morning, around 9 o’lock. He says it was over the playground at Attorney and Rivington streets for about 20 minutes. We will put a call into the Police Department to see what the choppers were up to — but please let us know if you have any additional information.
UPDATE 9:46 a.m. The helicopter was apparently called in after police received a report of a possible sexual assault. The victim was not able to provide a description of the suspect. As of this writing, no one has been taken into custody.
