Cowboy Pizza, 201 Clinton Street.
Our friends at Pushcart Coffee are spreading the word for Friday’s grand opening party at Cowboy Pizza, their new venture around the corner from the cafe. It starts at 7 p.m.; you’ll get the chance to sample the new pizza pies and to meet Aaron Stoquert and Sarah Trapido, who will be behind the counter most of the time. As we reported in April, they partnered with Jamie Rogers and Lisa Fischoff to reinvent the small pizza place (formerly Va Bene) at 201 Clinton. As you’ll see on Friday night, the restaurant has undergone quite a makeover. Cowboy Pizza is located at 201 Clinton, just below East Broadway. They’re open Sunday-Wednesday 10 a.m.-11 p.m.; Thursday-Ssturday 10 a.m.-midnight. And yes this place delivers! Have a look at the menu here.
Last month we noted that Va Bene Pizza at 201 Clinton Street (East Broadway) had closed. Now comes word that a new restaurant will be opening in this spot. “Cowboy Pizza” is expected to open around the middle of next month. It’ll be run by Jamie Rogers and Lisa Fischoff, who already operate “Pushcart Coffee,” around the corner at 221 East Broadway. They have two partners in the new venture, Aaron Stoquert and Sarah Trapido. We’re told they’ll be serving “good old fashioned New York pizza” as well as some specialty pies. We’ll let you know when we learn more.
201 Clinton Street.
In the last few days, Va Bene Pizza, 201 Clinton Street, called it quits. Over the weekend, the metal gate was down and the restaurant’s signage had been removed. Last summer, the pizza place (located just below East Broadway) was shuttered by the Health Department, but the business reopened and did a lot better in followup inspections. Phone calls to Va Bene in the last 48 hours have gone unanswered.
