In the news this past week:

–The City Council creates a “fair housing framework” with targets for affordable housing construction in each community district. The legislation, however, does not establish any mandates. According to data from the city, 1,117 units of affordable housing were created in City Council District 1 (which includes the Lower East Side) from 2014-2021. Far fewer units were created in Council District 2, which covers the East Side mostly above East Houston Street. [City Limits]
