Partial Closure of Corlears Hook Park Starts on February 28th

The East Side Coastal Resiliency Project has sent out a Community Advisory noting construction activities necessitating the closure of portions of Corlears Hook Park, including the flagpole area, beginning February 28, 2022. Access for the park will still be open at Jackson Street and the west entrances on Cherry Street. Access to the Corlears Hook Ferry Terminal will still be available via the Corlears Hook Bridge.

The East River Park resiliency plan is a $1.45 billion initiative to rebuild the much of the riverfront along the park about eight feet higher in order to act as a flood barrier. Crews have already swept away large portions of the park, including all of the the amphitheater abutting Corelears Hook Park. Local activists preferred an earlier plan, which was the result of years of community visioning.
