Community Board 3 Hearing on Budget Priorities Will Be Held Wednesday Night

Must Read

Looking down on one of the Parks Department’s many unfinished projects: the Allen/Pike Street pedestrian malls.

Coming up this week. you have an opportunity to tell Community Board 3 what projects on the Lower East Side should be funded in the city budget.

While CB3 does not have any budget-making authority, its annual recommendations can be influential as the mayor, city agencies and the City Council make funding decisions. Other projects go unfunded year after year. In Fiscal Year 2020, for example, the board called on the city to finally complete the Allen/Pike Street pedestrian malls (the plea was unsuccessful). You can see last year’s “capital” and “expense” recommendations here and here.

A hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Community Board 3’s office, 59 East 4th St. If you’re not able to attend, you can submit your ideas via email: mn03@cb.nyc.gov.
