Closure of Essex Street Subway Entrance Pushed Back

Must Read

IMG_2900

Last week, we took note of some makeshift signage indicating that the subway entrance on the southeast corner of Delancey Street and Essex Street would be closed for three months starting tomorrow (Feb. 27). The flimsy piece of paper disappeared from Essex Street, and now there’s this from the development team at Essex Crossing:

…the subway entrance adjacent to the site nearest the SE corner of Essex and Delancey will be temporarily closed while facade and concrete curb upgrades above the stair and escalator areas are performed. The date of this closure has not yet been determined.

The developers, Delancey Street Associates, are just finishing up work on a tower at 115 Delancey St., located on this corner. The building includes rental apartments, a new home for the Essex Street Market and a 14-screen movie theater.
