We all know the area around Clinton Street and Grand Street is a mess. After many months of begging/pleading/cajoling, the city’s Department of Transportation is finally presenting a plan to deal with gridlock in the blocks around the big Essex Crossing development. It will happen tomorrow evening (Thursday) at Community Board 3’s transportation committee.
Local residents have been complaining for years about worsening traffic congestion from vehicles accessing the Williamsburg Bridge. Cars are routinely backed up on Grand Street to FDR Drive and on Clinton Street headed northbound. DOT launched a traffic study in June of last year, but in December, city officials said the initial results were “inconclusive.”
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and takes place at Henry Street Settlement, 301 Henry St.
