Police arrested 44 people at the Baruch Houses Saturday during a video shoot organized by the rapper, China Mac. They had climbed up on the roof of a building housing public bathrooms at 95 Baruch Drive (near Houston Street).
After announcing the video shoot/party on the musician’s Facebook, a sizable crowd gathered on the roof at around 6 p.m. There were many complaints from locals, prompting the cops to respond.
China Mac, who’s real name is Raymond Yu, was arrested, along with 43 others. He was arraigned yesterday, according to the Post, on charges of unlawful assembly, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct . He was released without bail. Police say a firearm was found behind the building and two fake guns on the roof.
Yu, a former gang member, served 10 years in prison for shooting Christopher Louie, a rival rapper, at a Chinatown club in 2003.
