Earlier this morning, we detailed the looming demolition of 201-203 East Broadway, two buildings that served as the headquarters for United Hebrew Community of New York for more than a century. The new owner is not wasting any time. Local resident Mitch Weinstein sent along these photos, taken within the last hour, showing workers on the roof. The demolition permit was approved by the city last Thursday. Presumably, a sidewalk shed will go up at some point, but there’s no sign of that just yet.
