A 78-year-old man was struck and killed by a dump truck on Canal at Bowery at about 12:30 p.m. today. The victim was taken to New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, a 24-year-old man, was taken into custody by police. According to Channel 4, he was driving with a suspended license and will face charges. Cops say, however, that the driver had the right of way as he was coming off of the Manhattan Bridge.
