A quick update this morning on the Lowline’s Kickstarter campaign in support of a laboratory inside a vacant building of the Essex Street Market. It is the next big step as the local organization presses ahead with an ambitious campaign to build a park in an abandoned trolley station below Delancey Street.

When the Kickstarter ended this week, the Lowline had surpassed it’s goal of raising $200,000. Support came from 2,564 backers who contributed $223,506. The organization is now completing plans for the lab, which will include a smaller scale version of the park, complete with solar receptors on the roof of the market building in order to test sunlight channeling technology.

You can read more about their plans here.
