All month long, the Essex Street Market has been celebrating its 75th anniversary. But the big event is still to come. Tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m., there will be a festive block party on Essex Street between Delancey and Rivington streets.
Chefs from popular local restaurants Cafe Katja, Spur Tree and An Choi will be grilling. There will be a big birthday cake, plus DJs, live music, raffles, giveaways and games. In a nod to the market’s origins, pushcarts will be lined up, offering products from Essex Street vendors. There’s a speaking program at 2 p.m., featuring Kyle Kimball, head of the NYC Economic Development Corp.; Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer; City Council member Margaret Chin and other officials.
