U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara is, of course, prosecuting Lower East Side Assemblyman Sheldon Silver on federal corruption charges. He’s also going after the former Assembly speaker’s son-in-law. Yesterday, 37-year-old Marcello Trebitsch was arrested and accused of defrauding investors of $7 million. He was charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of securities fraud. Through his firm, Allese Capital, prosecutors say Trebitsch promised to invest the money on behalf of his clients.  But according to court documents, Trebitsch diverted some of the money to pay other investors and funneled a portion of the funds for personal use. Michelle Trebitsch, his wife, is Silver’s daughter.
