There was some excitement outside the Streit’s Matzo facility at 148 Rivington St. last night. Firefighters responded to a small blaze, as you can see in this photo from Nicky Digital. This morning, we’re told the flames were just the result of “some burnt matzah in a dumpster.” No major damage. Streit’s, of course, is getting ready to shut down its Lower East Side factory and make the move to New Jersey.
