The Little Laptop Shop at 7 Clinton St. is closing after more than a decade on the Lower East Side. There’s a note on the window and also on the store’s website that reads:
After 12 years serving downtown New York City, we are closing down our retail operations and shifting our focus to on-site work for our business customers. The repair industry has changed a lot over the last few years and having the storefront no longer makes sense. We want to thank our customers and neighbors for the years of friendship and support. We enjoyed every minute. We are no longer accepting computers for repair in the shop. The last day the shop will be open is October 31st, 2014. Any in-process repairs will be completed, all service warranties will be honored. If you have a computer in the shop, it must be picked up by October 31st, 2014. We will not be able to store computers beyond that date. Please contact us at info@littlelaptopshop.com if you have any questions or would like to make special arrangements for picking up your computer.
There are, of course, a lot of retail vacancies in general on Clinton Street. Along this stretch, Culturefix, the bar and events space at 9 Clinton St., went out of business during the summer. So the block between East Houston and Stanton streets is in for a transition.
I was a regular customer of the Laptop shop. They were really good, giving personalized service – unlike chain stores like Best Buy – and standing behind their work. I am sorry to see them go.
I visited them twice, once to have a lap top repaired after a blue screen rendered it inoperable. They did a great job and will be sorely missed!!
I was an irregular customer. The closing is not a good thing for the neighborhood. I wish them well.
I was very fortunate to be one of the last customers for laptop repair. Sorry to see them go. They did an excellent job and the cost was entirely reasonable.
