It’s nothing like the scene back in May when a water main burst, creating a river on East Houston Street. But if you’re Katz’s Deli, this is no way to start the week.
This afternoon, a collapsed sidewalk has forced workers to dig into the concrete to make more repairs. Jake Dell, co-owner of the 126-year-old restaurant, said the old water main is once again the culprit. In spite of the jack hammering taking place steps from the entrance, customers seemed undeterred. It takes a lot to keep a guy from his pastrami.
