A brief update from the intersection of East Broadway and Clinton streets, where city crews have finished replacing the water main that burst early yesterday morning after reportedly being struck by a snow plow. About a dozen businesses had to make due without water service yesterday.
According to the city’s Office of Emergency Management, the water line replacement was completed overnight. Now workers are patching up the street; they should be finished in a few hours. Local businesses confirm their water service has returned, although some shops have reported disruptions in phone service.
UPDATE 9:31 p.m. This afternoon water service was once again shut off. Business owners have been told that the new pipe was installed incorrectly, so crews are still on the job.
The information OEM gave you is wrong. I walked by at 7pm tonight (Thursday) and the guy in the pit was working on attaching a collar to the pipe in the ground and a guy outside the pit was measuring a new pipe to cut to length. The water line replacement is still very much ongoing.
They are digging up the street again today, does anyone know, are they replacing more pipe?
