A five-story tenement in Chinatown changed hands last month for nearly $6 million.
According to records filed with the city’s finance department, 40 East Broadway was purchased for $5.9 million by a recently-formed LLC called New Empire Properties, with a mailing address in Sunset Park Brooklyn. The building, located to the east of Bowery, is just over 10,000 square feet and, as you can see, has retail spaces on the first two floors. The building last changed hands in 2002 for $2.7 million.
Last spring, a 3-bedroom residential unit was listed in the building for $3300/month.
