The new team at Davidovich Bakery’s first retail bagel shop is all ready for today’s grand opening at the Essex Street Market.

Manager Guy Puglia told us a short time ago the Queens-based wholesaler is prepared for a midday grand opening on the Lower east Side; they’ve been in ‘soft-open” mode for awhile. Last month, we first reported that the bakery, which is seeking to fill the void left by the demise of H&H Bagels, was poised for its LES debut.
Here’s more from the company’s press release:
After an exhaustive search to identify the perfect location to open their first retail location, All Natural Products Davidovich Bakery announced the Grand Opening of their first retail Bagel Shop in NYC’s historic Essex Market.. In response to overwhelming demand, the company embarked on a 2 year search to identify the appropriate location to launch the first in a series of nationwide retail locations.  Company spokesperson, Kate Knizhina, said “Our company prides itself on being identified with the time honored and traditional bagel making roots; therefore, we felt what better place than the Lower East Side of Manhattan to break ground for our first store.  This neighborhood is synonymous with the historic introduction of Bagels to NYC.  This is the ideal marriage of today’s most prominent bagel maker with yesterday’s bagel pioneers. In addition to offering the world’s most famous bagels, directly to consumers, Davidovich NYC will be offering the finest baked goods, gourmet pastries, muffins, cookies, salads and refreshments.
The stall is located on the north end of the market.
