Breaking: Fire at 17 Pike Street

Fire broke out at an apartment building at 17 Pike St. near the corner of Henry St. this afternoon, resulting in about a dozen people being rescued by firefighters. Several were taken away by ambulance a short time ago.


The fire is under control, but firefighters on the scene confirmed there were collapsed floors inside.
Eyewitnesses say five or six people were rescued by ladder trucks, and others were carried out the front door by rescue personnel.

  1. I was at the scene when it happened, FDNY got there right away. They were climbing the latter to the roof caise alot of smoke was coming out. Ambulances were running back and forth like in a panic mode. Police officers were trying to control the crazy traffic. If I wo uldn’t turn to a safe area I would get run over. Everything was really bad, I felt so sorry for all the ones that were hurt physically as emotional. Prayers
