You never quite know where those inter-city “Chinatown buses” are going to pop up. From time to time, police officers chase them away from congested street corners, but they just move on to some other street.
A TLD reader sent along this photo, indicating an impromptu bus stop on Grand Street, not far from the Seward Park High School campus. Last month, the State Legislature passed legislation that will eventually lead to a permit system limiting bus operators to designated areas in New York City. The bill is awaiting Governor Cuomo’s signature. In the meantime, the cops and bus drivers continue to play a game of “cat and mouse.”
Great! just what Grand St needed. :-/
