Savan Becker is a Maryland resident but he’s got deep Lower East Side roots, which means he’s the local favorite to win the 2012 Space Race Contest. In celebration of the Seattle Space Needle’s 50th anniversary, they’re sending one lucky contestant 60 miles into space. The other day, we heard from Savan’s parents, longtime Lower East Side residents. The contest is taking place through Saturday on Facebook. There are 20 semi-finalists.
