2011: The Year in Lower East Side Snow Creatures

As we continue looking back on 2011, a special tribute to the Lower East Side (ahem) “Persons of the Year,” this past winter’s irrepressible snow creatures!

Let’s begin on that fateful day, January 13th, when LES resident (and later TLD kids’ contributor) Bridget Bosworth emailed us the first image of this dapper gentleman observing the comings and going outside the corner grocery at Essex and Canal streets. In the days and weeks that followed, the “Essex Snowman” went through many transformations, each one dutifully documented by neighborhood shutterbugs.  And then there were the copycats popping up all over the LES.  Click through for the complete snow job.
