Northeast Earthquake: Lower East Side Edition

The epicenter of the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that shook the Northeast U.S. today was in Virginia, but for a few minutes anyway, trembler rattled a few nerves (and maybe some bookshelves) on the Lower East Side.  Shortly after 2 p.m., people came streaming out of buildings on East Broadway. The Educational Alliance youth programs were evacuated. Construction crews working on the expansion of Gouverneur’s medical facility gathered on Henry Street, waiting for the “all clear.” See more photos after the jump;
