Police are saying an 8-year old girl was sexually assaulted last Thursday afternoon by a man who followed her into a building on Forsyth Street. Police released a videotape and still image of the suspect tonight. They described him as heavy-set, between 20-30 years old, about 5 foot 7, wth short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark short sleeve t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and a dark Yankees baseball cap. They say he was carrying a backpack.
According to investigators, he grabbed the girl from behind and fondled her. He fled shortly after the incident, which apparently happened at about 1:30pm. You can see the video on NY1’s web site.
