A pedestrian was struck this evening on Grand Street and transported to Bellevue Hospital. The accident occurred between Columbia Street and East Broadway. It first crossed police scanners at around 7:30 p.m.
Police closed off the roadway and the sidewalk on both sides of Grand Street for a period of time. Investigators congregated around a yellow cab that was parked on the south side of the street.
We have contacted the 7th Precinct for more information and will update this story when more details become available.

UPDATED 3/8 8:01 a.m. Police say an 87-year-old man was seriously injured in last night’s crash. He was hit by a taxi cab. The victim, whose name has not been released, is in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital. The accident actually happened at about 6:30 p.m. Cops say the victim was jaywalking. The driver has not been charged with any crime.
