Five Days Remain to Support Lower East Side Photo Project

Must Read

Lo-Down reader Kristin Ellington reminded us that there’s only a few more days left in the Kickstarter campaign to help fund Brian Rose’s “Time and Space on the Lower East Side.”

Rose and collaborator Ed Fausty photographed the neighborhood in 1980, during its “darkest, but most creative moment.”  Twenty years later, in the aftermath of 9/11, Rose returned to the streets of the LES to document neighborhood change. The result, Rose says, is a “collection of photographs that looks backwards and forwards, that posits the idea that places are not simply ‘then and now,’ but exist in a continuum of decay and rebirth.”

“Time and Space” was published as an online book last year, but for the past few months, Rose has been raising money to create a special print edition. Five days away from his Kickstarter deadline, he still needs a little over $1,000. If you would like to help make this worthy project a reality, the time to act is now!
