Special Screening Party for Rooftop Films, IndiWIRE and Snag Films’ Joint Birthday

Rooftop Films will be throwing a joint birthday party with indie film online companies indieWIRE and Snag Films this Thursday night, at the Open Road Rooftop, with a special preview screening of AARDVARK, the debut feature by Kitao SakuraiRooftop Films is turning 13 and indieWIRE is turning 14 (indieWIRE was acquired by documentary online hub, Snag Films in 2008).

The film features blind actor Larry Lewis in a role inspired by his own life. Program notes read: He plays a solitary man recovering from alcoholism and working towards stability. When he joins a Jiu Jitsu academy he finds a close friend in his young hard-partying instructor, Darren. But, as disturbing aspects of Darren’s life are revealed Larry soon finds himself alone and faced with the consequences of a horrific act of violence.

Sakurai, whose “day job” is cinematographer, shot the Gotham Award winning feature “You Wont Miss Me” directed by Ry Russo-Young, which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
