A gingerbread village – purportedly the world’s largest – has arrived at Essex Market for the holidays.  Hosted by the market and the Lower East Side Partnership, GingerBread Lane features hundreds of gingerbread houses, over 75 designed to be city storefronts reminiscent of the streets of the Lower East Side. They write:
“Creator and celebrated chef Jon Lovitch has constructed GingerBread Lane installations for over 25 years, his confectionary masterpieces have lived in cultural institutions all over the country, from The Smithsonian Museum to Rockefeller Center. These sweet displays appear in the Guiness Book of World Records and have been featured by The New York Times, Washington Post, Food & Wine, the Today Show and more!”
You can take part in workshops and learn how to make gingerbread houses at the Essex Market Kitchen all month long.
Also, there will be a visit from Santa at Essex Market on December 11Â from 11AM to 2PM. Activities and photos with Santa are free at this community event.
