After an abrupt shut-down last year, due to the pandemic, family fun is returning to Abrons Arts Center over the holidays. The Panto Project returns with their “radical, joyful, uproarious holiday family spectacle.” Dick Rivington and the Cat includes 25 cast members, more than 70 costumes, and “lots of pizza sauce.” The show promises to champion the message that good eventually does triumph over evil, and communities are strongest when they work together.
This one is an American version of the Panto (family holiday spectaculars that were first performed in Britain over 300 years ago) and “celebrates the resilience, open-mindedness, and beauty of the Lower East Side in a rags to riches story about a young immigrant and his feline friend who overcome enormous hardships to make their dreams come true.”
