P&T Knitwear Now Hosting Live Events on Orchard Street

P&T Knitwear, the bookstore, cafe and podcast studio that opened last May at 180 Orchard St., is now hosting live events. They kicked off their author events and book readings this month with a lineup celebrating Women in Translation, noting, “Since 2013, Women in Translation Month has been a staple of independent bookstores, a campaign against “the dearth of women in translation.” In 2021, 45% of translated titles published were written by women. Comparatively, 32% of all translated titles published between 2008–2021 were written by women. To that end, we’ve created a comprehensive (though by no means exhaustive!) list of discounted titles for you to browse & begin your own dive into literature in translation written by women.”

Events in September include the paperback release of Gary Shteyngart’s Our Country Our Friends and a conversation between Meredith Westgate & Jennifer Egan celebrating the paperback release of The Shimmering State. You can follow the store on Instagram and stay updated updates here. Find more info about their events here.
