Beloved by generations of nightlife fans, The Pyramid Club NYC announced their permanent closure in early April. Known as a drag and punk landmark since the bad old days (1979!), the team cited the closure as a consequence of the pandemic shutdown. The announcement was made on their Instgram account, noting: “Our hearts go to YOU, our community, who’ve kept us going over these past 41 years, as well as other nightclubs, live music venues, and theaters, businesses that, like us, have suffered the most from this “Pause” and are facing our very same predicament.”

Four days ago the gate was officially locked, with a farewell tag on the gate reading, “We love you. Rest in peace.”  On Instagram they wrote: “That’s it, folks! @djtm.8 & @mdrn917 moved out of what was once The Pyramid Club NYC. We are extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished in this landmarked building! Our community matters! We will continue to follow our passions, head held high!!! The show will go on!! Stay tuned, lots more to come!”
