Here’s another submission from Lower East Side-based photographer Pat Arnow. She was at Foley Square last night, where local activists gathered to defend DACA. The Trump administration moved yesterday to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which protects young undocumented immigrants from documentation.
Local elected officials and activist groups responded swiftly to the news, vowing to fight the order and to influence the debate in Congress over a new version of DACA.
.@realDonaldTrump just terminated #DACA. Congress must #ProtectDREAMers & pass the #DREAMAct immediately.

My statement on #DACA – we can’t force hardworking, young Americans into the shadows. #Dreamers #DefendDACA pic.twitter.com/kil61tMf4i

Trump turned his backs on thousands of young immigrants in a sad attempt to crush their dreams, but we will fight back pic.twitter.com/iIUd4ftPH1

We urge everyone to contact their representatives and tell them to fight for legislation that honors the contributions of Dreamers. pic.twitter.com/iRtDf0pRJi
