Aby Rosen’s RFR Realty has finally found a tenant, even if it is a temporary one, for the ground floor of 190 Bowery, the former Germania Bank Building.
According to the New York Post, the fashion retailer Totokaelo is taking a nearly 9,000 square foot space as a pop-up location until March of next year.  Totokaelo was founded in Seattle in 2008 and is part of  Vancouver-based Herschel Capital Corp. It has a permanent store on Crosby Street. An executive at RFR realty, Jordan Claffey, said, “I’m optimistic that this short-term agreement will turn into a long-term one.”
The asking rent for the retail space, which covers the ground floor, mezzanine and basement, was $2 million a year.
Rosen purchased 190 Bowery for $55 million in 2014 from famed photographer Jay Maisel. The upper floors of the landmark-protected and formerly graffiti-adorned building are occupied by Great Bowery, a collection of various creative agencies.
