Followup: Dog Tossed in Trash Chute at Vladeck Houses

We have more details about the disturbing story we told you about a couple of days ago: the search for a suspect who threw a dog down the trash chute at the Vladeck Houses.

Cops have now released a photo of the Chihuahua, named Izzy, and they have announced a $2500 reward for information leading to the person responsible to this act of animal cruelty.

The incident happened Friday morning at around 8:30 inside a building at 45 Jackson St. (near Cherry Street). A NYCHA maintenance worker, Carlos Castro, found Izzy in the trash compactor and rescued her.

 

The dog was taken yo the ASPCA Animal Hospital, where she was treated for injuries. An ASPCA statement read, “This kind of cruelty should not be tolerated in New York City, and we ask anyone with knowledge of this dog to please come forward.”
