Embrace the heat this pride month with Dixon Place’s Annual Hot! Festival opening night party on July 5th. “An evening of queer fellowship” hosted by critically acclaimed cabaret artist Dandy Darkly and comedic performer Reno, the opening night will feature HOT! Fest show previews, cocktail specials and festival passes for all HOT! artists. The event is in 161A Chrystie St. and performances begin at 7:30 p.m., bar opens at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free.
The 25 year old celebration commemorates LGBTQ culture in several different art forms–from theater, music, circus arts, literature, dance and visual art. One of the events is award winning multi-disciplinary performing artist and educator Monstah Black’s dance/theater/music/fashion show entitled HYPERBOLIC! (The Last Spectacle). Imagining the last party on earth, HYPERBOLIC! is an arresting “…musical noir evening pretty-glam gore, oozes sensual debauchery, greed, disgust, mistrust & laughter.” The show premiers on July 8th at 7:30 p.m. and runs through July 23rd. Visit the event page for more information.
Hot! will heat up and sizzle the summer months from July 5th to August 13th. For more information on the festival, visit the website.
